Winner of the new “Russian Ballet” competition will become a trainee of the ballet company of the Bolshoi Theatre for one year.
On the 12th of March 2013 the final round of “Russian Ballet”, a new competition between young ballet artists, will take place on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre.
“Russian Ballet” is the first national competition of its kind and competitors will include dancers from all over Russia. The competition was organized at initiative of the Ministry of Culture of The Russian Federation and the Fund of Social and Cultural Initiatives whose president is Svetlana Medvedeva.
The aim of the competition is to support young talents. The young dancers will be evaluated by a very distinguished jury which will include such outstanding cultural figures as Diana Vishneva, Michael Lavrovsky, Galina Stepanenko, VyacheslavGordeev, Boris Eifman and others. The chairman of the jury is YuryGrigorovich.
On the 5th of March prizes for laureates were first shown — the laureate bronze statuette in the form of ballet pointe shoes designed by the sculptor Olga Gorbacheva from the artistic workshop “Kaleza” and memorable medals with an image of the legendary ballerina Galina Ulanova. The creators of the medal are Alexander Baklanov, member of the Russian Academy of Arts and painter OlgaYanchenko.
The main prize for the winner is the unique opportunity of an internship in the ballet company of the Bolshoi Theatre.
On the 12th of March graduates from schools of ballet arts from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Yakutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ufa, Ulan-Ude, Krasnodar will perform on the new stage.
The final phase of the tournament of young artists “Russian Ballet” will be shown on the TV channel “Culture”.
