Once again, our YouTube channel will show you a day in the life of the opera. This time the plot of the program revolves around two titles: Boris Godunov by M. Mussorgsky and Salome by R. Strauss. If the first opera never left the Bolshoi's repertoire for a long time (the famous production of 1948 is traditionally ranked among the performances of the so-called golden fund of the Bolshoi), the second was staged only once, in 1925, and this season the Bolshoi decided to renew their "acquaintance": the premiere will take place on February 25, and work on the new production is currently in full swing.
For two hours, viewers of the broadcast will have the opportunity to see how the staged and orchestral rehearsals are going, as well as to attend vocal lessons with the soloists of the opera troupe and artists of the Bolshoi Young Artists Opera Program.
Among the heroes of the broadcast are members of the production team working on a new reading of Salome – famous opera director Claus Guth and set designer Etienne Pluss, opera troupe soloists Agunda Kulaeva and Mikhail Kazakov, head of the Young Artists Opera Program Dmitry Vdovin and Musical Director–Chief Conductor of the Bolshoi Theater Tugan Sokhiev. This year, the maestro will also be the host of Opera Day for the first time. Together with him, the program will be presented by the theater press secretary Katerina Novikova.
24 February. Starts at 13.00 (Moscow time).
