Prize-winner at the I Pavel Lisitsian International Competition for Baritones (Moscow, 2008).
Diploma and Spezial prize winner at the VIII Rimsky-Korsakov International Competition of Young Opera Singers (Saint-Petersburg, 2008).
Prize-winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels (5th prize and Prize of Brussels-Capital Region, 2011) and at Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition in Moscow (2nd prize, 2011).

						

Biography

Konstantin Shushakov was born in 1984 in Udmurtia.
In 2002 he entered the Izhevsk Musical College, vocal department. From 2004 to 2009 he was a student of The Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow (course by Georgy Ansimov, vocal class by Yuri Udalov).

In 2009-11 Konstantin was a member of the Young Artists Opera Program of the Bolshoi Theatre and made his debut at Bolshoi as Schaunard in Puccini’s La Boheme (conducted by Antonello Allemandi).
In 2012 he took part in the Young Artist Program of the Washington National Opera.

In 2012-2019 – a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company.
Since 2019, he has been a member of the ensemble at Opernhaus Zürich.

Tours

In 2013 Konstantin Shushakov performed the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Maribor Slovene National Theatre (conducted by Benjamin Pioneer).
In 2014 he debuted at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan as Guglielmo in Mozarts Cosi fan Tutte (conducted by Daniel Barenboim/ Karl-Heinz Steffens, directed by Claus Guth).
In 2015 he made his South American debut as the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo in Brazil.
In 2016, Shushakov made his debut at the Grand-Théâtre de Genève as Ford in new production of Falstaff (conducted by John Fiore, directed by Lukas Hemleb) and appeared as Tzarevich Afron in Le coq d’or at La Monnaie in Brussels (conducted by Alain Altinoglu, directed by Laurent Pelly).
In July 2017, he took part in the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company tour to Savonlinna, performed the role of Robert in Iolanta (conductor Tugan Sokhiev).
In 2018 he sang the title part in Eugene Onegin at the Vancouver Opera Festival and appeared as Prince Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades) at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and Norwegian National Opera.
In May 2019 he performed the role of Eugene Onegin at the Rouen Opera House.

Also active on the concert platform, Shushakov has taken part at the III International Chamber Levitan Festival in Plyos (Artistic Director - Alexei Goribol) and sung in Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor with Musica Viva Chamber Orchestra in Moscow, conducted by Alexander Rudin. In 2010 he took part in the concert performance of Gounod’s Romeo and Juliette (Paris) and Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann (Hermann) at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (conductor - Laurent Campellone). In 2011 he sung the baritone solo in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Russian National Orchestra at Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, conducted by Mikhail Pletnev. In 2014, he also appeared in Perm Opera as Robert in concert performance of Iolanta (conducted by Teodor Currentzis).
