Юрий Миненко


Yuriy Mynenko sings in the season 2018/19 u.a. in the new production Death in Venice at the Carre Theater in Amsterdam, Polinesso in Ariodante at the Stuttgart Opera, Disinganno in Il Trionfo del Tempo and Delinganno at the Teatro Manoel, the role of Ottone in Vinci's Gismondo re di Polonia in Vienna, Gliwice, Moscow , and on CD, and his Salzburg Festival debut as Aci in Porpora's Polifemo.

Yuriy Mynenko was born in Radomyshl (Ukraine). He studied singing with Yuriy Teterya at the State Music Academy Antonina Nezhdanova in Odessa, first as a baritone, then as a countertenor. Already during his studies he participated successfully in numerous singing competitions, u. a. he was the first Ukrainian singer and the first countertenor to reach the final of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. Later, his artistic work took him next to his homeland to many other European countries and the United States. So he sang at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, at the National Theater Mannheim, at the Cologne Opera, at the Stuttgart Opera, at the Staatstheater Kassel, at the Theater an der Wien, at the Opéra de Lausanne, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées Paris, at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, at the Opéra national de Lorraine Nancy, at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Kennedy Center Washington, the Paris Opera Bastille, at the Santa Fe Opera, among others.

He has worked with such well-known conductors as Kazem Abdullah, Teodor Currentzis, Alan Curtis, Marc-André Dalbavie, Paul Daniel, Dan Ettinger, Diego Fasolis, Grant Gershon, Reinhard Goebel, Simon Halsey, Roman Kofman, Andris Nelsons, Christopher Molds, Vasily Petrenko, George Petrou, Mikhail Jurowski and Vladimir Jurowski. His opera repertoire includes works from the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods, including Xbalanque in The Indian Queen by Henry Purcell, Corrado in Griselda by Antonio Vivaldi, David in Saul by George Frideric Handel, Artaserse and Megabise in Artaserse by Leonardo Vinci, Annio and Sesto in La clemenza di Tito by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ratmir in Ruslan and Ludmila by Mikhail Glinka.

In the season 2016/2017 Yuriy Mynenko u.a. in the title role of Handel's opera Rinaldo (Theater Chemnitz), Pergolesi's opera Adriano in Siria (Theater an der Wien), as well as Lel in Snegurochka (Opera de Paris). In the 2017/18 season, Yuriy Mynenko sang at the Teatro Liceu in Barcelona, at the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, at the Theater an der Wien and at the Opera de Lausanne, where he made his debut as Sesto. In January 2018 Yuriy Mynenko jumped in Rome as a Romeo in Zingarelli's opera Giulietta e Romeo at the Theater an der Wien. He was enthusiastic about the audience and the press. Salzburg festival in June 2019 sang part of Aci in opera (Polifemo) by Nicola Porpora.

Future tasks of Yuriy Mynenko are Najata in a new production of Sadko at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, and at the Opera de Lyon, the role of Polinesso in a concert tour under the direction of Marc Minkowski, the title role in Handel's Publio Cornelio Scipione at the Festival Göttingen, the voice of Apollo in Death in Venice at the Theater Chatlet, the Opera Zagreb and the Barbican Center London, the role of Ottone in Vinci 's Gismondo re di Polonia in Warsaw and Dortmund, Lel in Snegurotchka at the Opera de Bastille in Paris, and the Nerone in Handel's Agrippina at Royal Operahouse Covent Garden.

Yuriy Mynenko participated in the ’legendary’ and multi-award winning CD and DVD production Artaserse, recorded with five countertenors and released on Virgin Classics in 2011.
In the same year he debuted at the Bolshoi Theatre in Ruslan and Lyudmila new production (conductor Vladimir Jurowski, director Dmitri Tchernyakov). In 2020 he took part in the premiere performances of Sadko singing the role of Nezhata (conductor Timur Zangiev, director Dmitri Tcherniakov).
