Alexander Volchkov

Biography

Born in Moscow. In 1997, having trained at the Moscow Choreographic College (today the Moscow Choreographic Academy), in Leonid Zhdanov’s class, he joined the Bolshoi Ballet Company. His constant coach is Vladimir Nikonov. Since 2019, he has worked under the contract.

Tours

In 2002, he danced the title role in Yuri Grigorovich’s Romeo and Juliet for the Kremlin Ballet Company — in a performance to mark the choreographer’s jubilee. In the same year, he appeared with the Tbilisi Theatre of Opera and Ballet, dancing Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake (Konstantin Sergeyev production) and the Prince in The Nutcracker (choreography — Yuri Grigorovich).
In 2003, he took part in the Rudolf Nureyev Festival of Ballet in Ufa, where he appeared in The Sleeping Beauty and danced the title role in Romeo and Juliet (choreography — Yuri Grigorovich).
In 2008, he appeared in Paris in the part of Jean de Brienne in Raymonda (choreography by M. Petipa, R. Nureyev’s version) with the Paris National Opera Ballet Company (Raymonda — Maria Alexandrova).
In 2011, he danced the part of Solor in La Bayadere (choreography by M. Petipa, R. Avnikyan’s version) with Teatro dell'Opera di Roma Ballet Company (Nikia – Svetlana Zakharova).
In 2017, he appeared as Crassus in Spartacus (choreography by Y. Grigorovich) with Royal Ballet Flanders (Beldium).
