2004 – a recipient of a special prize for performing a contemporary work at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers’ Competition (St Petersburg).
2010 – a prize-winner of The Golden Mask National Theatre Award for his performance of Burdiukov (The Lawsuit) and Storchenko (Shponka and His Aunt) in Gogoliada production at the Mariinsky Theatre.

Biography
After graduating from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire (class of L. Morozov)trained at the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers (class of G. Khanedanian).
Joined the Mariinsky Opera Company in 2007.
Roles performed at the Mariinsky include: Grishka Kuterma (The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia), The Simpleton (Boris Godunov), Astrologer (The Golden Cockerel), Prince Nilsky (The Gambler), District Inspector (The Nose), The Shepherd (Oedipus Rex), Truffaldino (The Love for Three Oranges), Shabby Peasant (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Dr Caius (Falstaff), Iopas (Les Troyens), Don Basilio (Le nozze di Figaro), Monostasos (Die Zauberflöte), title part (Shchedrin’s The Lefthander, nominated for a Golden Mask National Theatrical Award in 2014), Mime (Das Rheingold and Siegfried), Flogged Monk/ Prince/ Magnetiser/ Old Man in the Woods (Shchedrin’s The Enchanted Wanderer), Brighella, Dancing-Master (Ariadne auf Naxos), The Hunchbacked (Die Frau ohne Schatten), Herod (Salome, nominated for a Golden Mask Award in 2018), Laca (Jenůfa), among others.
Tours
Andrei Popov has appeared at the Mariinsky Theatre’s festival in Mikkeli (Finland). Together with the Mariinsky Opera Company, he has toured to London, New York, Washington, Stockholm, Beijing, Tokyo, Helsinki, Brussels, Baden-Baden, Valencia, Paris, Tel-Aviv, Eilat, Las Palmas, Birmingham and Cardiff.In 2008 he took part in a concert performance of the opera May Night under Mikhail Pletnev.

In 2011 he sang Shuisky (Boris Godunov) at Opéra de Nice (conductor Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, director Nicolas Joël).
In 2012 he appeared at the Bolshoi Theatre as the Astrologer (The Golden Cockerel) and Shabby Peasant (The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk). In 2020 he took part in the premiere performances of Sadko singing the role of Fife (conductor Timur Zangiev, director Dmitri Tcherniakov).
Among his recent engagements: The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Shabby Peasant) at the Salzburg Festival (conductor Mariss Jansons; 2017), The Fiery Angel (Agrippa) at the Polish National Opera and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (2018), Prince Igor (Yeroshka) and The Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Opéra National de Paris (2019).
