Biography

Maria was born in Vilnius, Lithuania. After earning a diploma in piano performance from the Moscow State Ippolitov-Ivanov Pedagogical Music Institute she entered the Moscow State Institute of Culture and Arts. In 2007-09 she was a soloist-probationer, in 2009-12 – a soloist with the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre where she appeared as Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Tamara in Rubinstein’s Demon, Militrisa in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan, Masha in Shostakovich’s Moscow, Cheryomushki, Antonia’s Mother in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Rusalka in Rimsky-Korsakov’s May Night. In 2009 she performed the role of Tatiana in Eugene Onegin while on tour with the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Musical Theatre in Trieste, Italy and in Chisinau, Moldova.

In 2012-14 she was the member of the Young Artist Program of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.

In 2014 she sang Maria in Friedenstag at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern.

Since 2016, Maria Lobanova has been a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company.

In 2016 she took part in the production of Katerina Izmailova at the Bolshoi Theatre, singing the title role.
In 2017 followed the roles of Nastassya Filippovna in the production of Wеinberg’s The Idiot (directed by Evgeny Arye, conducted by Michał Klauza) and Kupava in the production of Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden (directed by Alexander Titel, conducted by Tugan Sokhiev).

In October 2017 took part in concert performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera The Maid of Pskov (conductor Tugan Sokhiev) as Olga Tokmakova.
