Biography

Dmitry’s highlights in the 2019/20 season include Sergey in a new production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk in Frankfurt, Alexej in Prokofiev’s The Gambler with Asmik Grigorian as Polina, Herman in The Queen of Spades at La Monnaie in Brussels, Andrey in Mazeppa at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, a return to Opéra de Paris for Grigoriy in Boris Godunov and his debut at the Salzburger Festspiele in a production with Christoph Loy and Tugan Sokhiev.

Recent engagements have included Sergey in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Don Jose in Carmen and Andrey in Tchaikovsky’s Mazeppa concert version at the Bolshoi in Moscow, a return to Theater an der Wien for Orleanskaya Deva and to Opéra de Lyon for Janáček’s From the House of Dead, Grigoriy in Boris Godunov at Opéra de Paris with Vladimir Jurowski and at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with Pablo Heras-Casado, as well as Alexei in Prokofiev’s The Gambler at Theater Basel and both Agrippa and Mephisto in Prokofiev’s The Fiery Angel for Zurich Opera with Gianandrea Noseda.

Further past engagements include Agrippa and Mephisto in The Fiery Angel at Komische Oper Berlin and Opéra de Lyon, Grishka in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Invisible City of Kitezh with the Liceu in Barcelona, Painter in American Lulu at the Theater an der Wien, Andrey Khovansky in Khovanshchina and Zemlinsky’s King Kandaules for the Vlaamse Opera Antwerp, Golitsyn in Khovanshchina at Theater Basel, as well as Albert in The Miserly Knight and Dante in Francesca da Rimini at La Monnaie in Brussels.

Dmitry studied at the St Petersburg Conservatory and at the Hochschule für Musik in Hamburg, Germany, with William Workman. In addition, he took lessons with Franz Grundheber and Elena Obraztsova.
