Biography

One of the most exciting mezzosoprano of her generation, Silvia Beltrami has performed in such venues as Teatro Real de Madrid, Opera de Bilbao, Opera de Oviedo, Graz Oper, Staatsoper of Hannover, Rossini in Wildbad Festival, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Filarmonico di Verona,Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Regio di Parma, Seoul Arts Center, National Centre for the Performing Arts of Beijing. Her repertory include such dramatic roles of Verdi and Puccini’s repertory, as well as belcanto roles including Matilde in Olivo e Pasquale by Donizetti, Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, Marchesa Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims, Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Pippo in Gazza ladra, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.

She also performed modern works as Pollicino by Henze at Teatro Regio di Torino, I quattro rusteghi by Wolf-Ferrari with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Midsummer Night’s Dream and Noye’s Fludde by Britten at Teatro Regio di Torino, Sussanna by Floyd at Opera de Bilbao.

During the 2016/17 season she performed Olivo e Pasquale (Matilde) at Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Il trovatore (Azucena) at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Madama Butterfly (Suzuki) at Seoul Arts Center and at Arena di Verona, Cavalleria Rusticana (Santuzza role debut) at Fortezza Priamar Festival in Savona.

She opened the 2017/18 season performing Amneris in Aida during a tour with Teatro Regio di Torino. Subsequently she performed Ulrica in a new production of Un ballo in maschera for the opening season of Teatro La Fenice under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung. She also sang as Azucena in Il trovatore at the Theaters of Reggio Emilia and Modena.

Her discography includes Le Siege de Corinthe (Ismene) and Ricciardo e Zoraide (Zomira) live from Rossini in Wildbad Festival. Born in Bologna, graduated at Conservatory Arrigo Boito di Parma, she also studied with William Matteuzzi and Raina Kabaivanska. After winning the AsLiCo Competition (Italy) she makes her operatic debut as Charlotte in Werther at Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari.
