Biography

A winner of several competitions, including ASLICO Competition in 2015 at Teatro Sociale di Como (Italy), second prize in 2012 Internacional Competition "Ciudad de Logroño" (Spain) and prize for the best zarzuela singer at 2013 International Competition (Colmenar Viejo) in Madrid.

He graduated in opera singing in the Escuela Superior de Canto de Madrid and he attended master classes at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena (Italy) with Renato Bruson and at Rossini Opera Festival with Alberto Zedda in Pesaro following which his participation as Don Profondo in Il viaggio a Reims at 2015 Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.

Recent and future engagements include Dottor Malatesta in Don Pasquale at Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Pergolesi di Jesi, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona e Teatro Fraschini de Pavia, Dandini in La Cenerentola at the Theaters of Lucca, Ravenna and also in the same title his outstanding role debut as Don Magnifico at Teatro Rossini di Pesaro, Il barbiere di Siviglia (Bartolo) at Teatro delle Muse di Ancona, at Théâtre des Champs Elysées de Paris and at Opèra de Marseille (Pelly’s production), Die Zauberflöte (Papageno role debut) in Tenerife, La Cenerentola (Don Magnifico), L’elisir d’amore (Dulcamara) at Opera AGAO in Pamplona, Il barbiere di Siviglia (Bartolo) and L’elisir d’amore (Dulcamara) at Opéra de Toulon, L’italiana in Algeri (Taddeo) at Hungarian State Opera of Budapest, Il barbiere di Siviglia (Bartolo) in Lima, La Cenerentola (Don Magnifico) at Opernhaus in Düsseldorf, Il viaggio a Reims at Bolshoi Theatre, La bohème at Opera de Las Palmas, L’italiana in Algeri at Opera de Marseille, L’elisir d’amore (Belcore) at Opera de Bilbao.

In concert he also sang Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini at the Festival Terras Sem Sombra in Portugal with Alberto Zedda, Elijah by Mendelssohn, Symphony No. 9 by Beethoven, Coronation Mass by Mozart, Mozart’s Requiem and Ein deutsches Requiem by Brahms at Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini and Die Schöpfung by Haydn at Théatre Wolubilis in Brussels, L’Enfance du Christ (Lo Storico) with Orquestra Sinfonica del Principado de Asturias in Oviedo, Requiem by Fauré and Messa di Gloria by Puccini at Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini at Auditiorio Nacional de Madrid.

In October, 2019 Pablo Ruiz debuted at the Bolshoi Theatre as Lord Sidney in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims.
