Biography
Born in Novosibirsk. Graduated from the Mikhail Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory in 2013, where he studied under the guidance of Marina Akhmedova.From 2013 to 2017, he was a soloist for the Novosibirsk State Academy Opera and Ballet Theater, where he performed such leading operatic roles as Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Vladimir (Prince Igor) and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly).
In the same period, Gyngazov also sang Lensky at the Ekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theater (Ural Opera Ballet), conducted by Oliver von Dohnanyi.
In 2017, he made his debut with Helikon Opera in Moscow as Manrico (Il Trovatore under Oliver Diaz), after which he became a soloist at the company, singing Calaf (Turandot under Vladimir Fedoseev).
In 2019, Ivan Gyngazov made his first appearance at the Theater an der Wien as Vaudemont (Iolanta). In the same year he debuted at the Mariinsky Theatre as Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), at the Fondazione Petruzzelli in Bari as Lensky (Eugene Onegin), and at the Semperoper Dresden as Ismaele (Nabucco).
In 2020, he made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in the title role of Sadko new production (conductor Timur Zangiev, director Dmitri Tchernyakov). In 2021, he appeared as Sergei (Katerina Izmailova).
Other roles in the tenor’s repertoire include: Radames (Aida), José (Carmen), Andrei (Tchaikovsky’s Mazeppa), Herman (The Queen of Spades), Sergey (Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District), Young Gypsy (Aleko) and Grigory (Boris Godunov).
