Biography

Belarusian tenor Pavel Petrov is winner of the First Prize and the Placido Domingo Ferrer Prize of Zarzuela of Operalia 2018, The World Opera Competition, third place of the Belvedere Competition and finalist of the Queen Sonja International Music competitions.

Pavel’s forthcoming engagements include Opéra de Lausanne, Lensky (Eugene Onegin); Hans (Bartered Bride) for Oper Graz; and Steva (Jenufa) at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam. In seasons ahead Pavel will give house debuts at Opéra national de Paris and Glyndebourne Festival on tour.

Engagements elsewhere have Lyric Opera of Chicago, Tamino (Die Zauberflöte); Bregenzer Festspiele, Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto); Wiener Staatsoper, Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore); Royal Opera House, Pong (Turandot); Arena di Verona, Alfredo (La Traviata); Opera Australia, Ferrando (Cosi fan tutte); Salzburger Festspiele, Chaplitsky (Pique Dame); Bucharest National Opera, Alfredo and Lensky; Alfredo for the Mikhailovsky Theatre. In concert Pavel performed in a gala concert in Moscow with the State Symphony Orchestra of Russia alongside Asmik Grigorian.

Pavel is currently a member of the ensemble at Oper Graz, where his roles have included Alfredo (La Traviata), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Cavalier Belfiore (Il viaggio a Reims), Prunier (La rondine), Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Narraboth (Salome) and Rodolfo (La bohème).
