Biography
Born in Perm, Russia. Studied Opera and Symphony conducting at the Moscow Conservatory (classes of Valery Polyansky and Gennady Rozhdestvensky, graduated at 2015) and completed his post-graduate education there in 2017.
In 2011 Dmitry Kryukov made his debut conducting with the GASK and performed numerous concerts with leading Russian orchestras such as GASK orchestra, GASO (Russia State Symphony Orchestra), RNO, Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, Ekaterinburg, Perm, Saratov Philharmonia orchestras, Kazan Symphony Orchestra, Ekaterinburg Opera and many other since that time.
Dmitry Kryukov regularly performs at the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Moscow International House of Music, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and other concert halls of Moscow and Russia. He gives not only classic philharmonic concerts, but also takes part in different modern projects such as different kinds of open air concerts and concerts with visualisation.
In October 2013 he became chief conductor of the Skriabin.Fest Moscow Festival, which was held at a specially constructed stage in the historic center of Moscow, where he conducted complete symphonic works by Scriabin and Rachmaninov with the GASK orchestra and pianist Andrey Korobeynikov.
In 2011-2014 he worked with Gennady Rozhdestvensky in preparation of the “Foggy Albion” concerts series.
In 2014 was invited to Bolshoi Theatre for Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride production as Gennady Rozhdestvensky’s assistant. In 2014, at the age of 23 years made his debut on the Historic Stage of Bolshoi Theatre. In 2015 conducted The Tsar’s Bride at the Bolshoi Theatre’s Hong-Kong concert tour. In July 2016 made DVD recording of the same opera.
Dmitry Kryukov worked with numerous world-leading instrumentalists and vocalists, such as Alexandr Kniazev, Alexandr Gindin, Lukas Genushas, Julius Kim, Nikita Borisoglebsky, Andrey Korobeynikov, Vasily Gerello, Sumi Jo and many others.
Since 2013 he has a foreign concert activity, performed with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburg State Symphony Orchestra, Opera Liege.
In 2014-2016 he conducted special Concert Series for Children in Moscow Philharmonic (including 5 opera in concert performances).
Since 2015 Dmitry Kryukov conducts the main repertoire at tne Moscow Chamber Musical Theater (B. Pokrovsky’s Theatre) and has already made there about 10 productions. Most recently made a russian premiere of a modern opera Diego and Frida by the world-leading composer Kalevi Aho.
In December 2016 he conducted Russian premiere of Mahler’s Das Klegende Lied (first version) at the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory. In March 2019, with great success, conducted Wagner’s Tannhäuser at the Trans-Siberian Art Festival (Novosibirsk).
Since 2019 he has been a Principal Guest Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra of Republic of Bashkortostan.
The repertoire of the young conductor includes the major part of works from Bach to Gubaidullina. Among others: all symphonies and instrumental concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann, Bruckner, Brahms, Mahler, Sibelius, Borodin, Glasunov, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Skriabin, Prokofiev, Schostakovich. 16 Verdi operas, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Schostakovich, Prokofiev operas, cantatas and oratorios of different composers and many other pieces.)
