Константин Чудовский

Biography

After graduating from the conducting-chorus department of the Gnesin Music College (class of Valentina Bogdanovskaya) he studied Opera and Symphony conducting at the Moscow Conservatory (Gennady Rozhdestvensky’s class).

He began his career at the Helikon Opera, Moscow in 2006, from 2007-2014 he was appointed as guest conductor with the company. Has toured to Spain, France and Cyprus.

From 2013 to 2019 Konstantin Chudovsky was the principal conductor at Opera Nacional de Chile. Among his operatic projects there: Die Zauberflöte, Madama Butterfly, Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, I due Foscari, Norma, Faust, La forza del destino, Tosca, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Mozart and Salieri, Lady Macbeth of Mtsenks, Boris Godunov, Jenufa, Kátya Kabanová.

Since 2019 he has been named a chief conductor with Ural Opera Ballet, Yekaterinburg. In addition to current opera and ballet productions, he conducted the Russian premiere of L’Amour de loin by Kaija Saariaho (nominated for a Golden Mask Award), produced premieres of Verdi’s Rigoletto and Nabucco, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin as well as theatrical concert performances of Il barbiere di Siviglia and Lucia di Lammermoor.

His operatic appearances have included Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio (for the opening of Theater an der Wien’s Youth Programme) and La Cenerentola at the Kammeroper, Dvóřak’s Rusalka and Prokofiev’s Cinderella with Opéra de Lyon; Il Trovatore with Opéra de Limoges, Reims and National Opera of Azerbaijan, Boris Godunov at Opera Monte-Carlo and Bulgarian National Opera.

Since 2020, he has been an artistic director and principal conductor of the State Kremlin Orchestra.
Collaborated with Evgeny Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra, Novaya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra, State Academic Symphonic Chapel of Russia, Moscow City Symphony “Russian Philharmonic”, Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, Jerusalem Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre National de Lyon, Vienna Chamber Orchestra.
