Biography

Born in Rubtsovsk, Russia.
In 1984, he graduated from the Novosibirsk Glinka Conservatoire.
From 1980-88, he was a soloist with the Novosibirsk Theatre of Operetta, from 1988-89, — soloist with the Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet and subsequently with the Saint-Petersburg Chamber Opera Company.
Since 1990, he has been a Mariinsky Theatre soloist.

He appeared as guest soloist in major opera houses, concert halls and festivals, including: Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the San Francisco Opera, the Houston Grand Opera and the Los Angeles Opera; Royal Opera House; Teatro alla Scala, La Fenice, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna as well as Florence’s Teatro Comunale; the Vienna State Opera; Opéra national de Paris, Théâtre de Chatelet, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and the Marseille Opera; Madrid’s Teatro Real and Barcelona’s Grand Teatre del Liceu; Nederlandse Opera; the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Cologne Opera and the Baden-Baden Festspielhaus in Germany; the New National Theater in Tokyo; the New Israeli Opera; and the Teatro Colon. In addition, he has performed at the Salzburg, Bregenz and Edinburgh Festivals and Washington’s Kennedy Center; London’s Royal Albert Hall; the Chorégies d’Orange and the Arena di Verona.

Vladimir Galouzine has collaborated with such conductors as Carlo Rizzi, James Conlon, Dennis Russell Davies, Marcello Viotti, and stage directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Graham Vick, August Everding, Giancarlo Del Monaco and Elijah Moshinsky.

He has CD and DVD recordings.

In 2008 he performed the role of Herman (The Queen of Spades) at the Bolshoi Theatre. In 2015 he took part in the new production of The Queen of Spades at the Bolshoi (conductor Michail Jurowski, director Lev Dodin).
