Mark Stavtsev

Biography

Born in Kuibyshev (Samara). In 2005, he graduated from the Russian State Humanitarian University (faculty of history, politology and law). In 2005 he enrolled at the St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre Art, faculty of scenography and theatre technology (teacher Vladimir Lukasevich).

In 2004, he joined the Bolshoi Theatre where, as assistant lighting designer, he worked on the following productions: Gala in Memory of Roland Petit (2011), Wash’em Clean (2012), Young Artists Opera Program Concerts (2012, 2013). He worked with the following, among other, companies at the Bolshoi theatre: Teatro Real, Spanish National Ballet (2011), La Scala (2012), Latvian Opera (2013), Mariinsky Theatre, Rostov Music Theatre.

He has also worked for Saint-Peterburg Opera (2005), The Et Cetera Theatre (2010-2011).

He lit the following productions: the ballet The Snow Maiden (Sats Children’s Music Theatre, 2007); The Journey of the Little Square (Vyacheslav Koleychuk’s Total Theatre, 2007); The Beggar’s Opera (Open Stage project, 2008), The Judgement of Paris (Open Stage project, 2011), Orphée (Et Cetera, 2011); The Teachings of Don Juan (2007), Cain and Abel (2007), Hero IN (2011) for the Morph Theatre; as assistant lighting designer he worked on: Swan Lake (Sats Children’s Music Theatre, 2005); Tsaritsa Tamara (Open Stage Project, 2012).
As designer-technologist and assistant lighting designer he participated in preparations for the performance of Scriabin’s Prometheus: The Poem of Fire in Kaliningrad Cathedral (2012).

He designer the following exhibitions: the Moscow Union of Artists under the umbrella of the Night of the Museums project (2011, 2012); The Results of the Season 2011-2012 (New Manege); From Sketch to Production (Central House of Actors, 2013).
