Biography
In March 2014 Elena Bocharova debuted with the Theatre du Capitole, Toulouse as Santuzza in a new Cavalleria rusticana conducted by Tugan Sokhiev. In July 2013 debuted at the Bolshoi Theatre as Carmen and returned to the Bolshoi in December 2013 as Eboli in the new production of Don Carlo. In 2013 she also appeared at the Paris National Opera, singing the role of Amneris in the new production of Aida and Laura in new Gioconda.Elena Bocharova replaced Olga Borodina as Dalila with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse performances in Toulouse and the Salle Pleyel in Paris (w/ Ben Heppner) in 2011. Ms. Bocharova recently debuted with the Warsaw Philharmonic as Amneris in concert performances of Aida for Verdi Anniversary celebration and opened Edmonton opera’s ’12-13 season with Amneris in their new production of Aida. Born in Russia, and a graduate of the Adler program, her debut as Flosshilde marked the beginning of a prominent run with the San Francisco Opera, roles including Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, and Dido in Dido and Aeneas. In 2003 she made her New York debut as Carmen with NYCOP at Lincoln Center. She also performed the role of Carmen in Dresden, Köln, Dayton and Kansas.
Other career highlights include concerts at La Monnaie/Antwerp, Brussels in a gala with Jose Van Dam, her Opera de Paris debut in Boris Godunov, a Richard Tucker Gala at Fisher Hall and a Tucker Music Foundation concert in Stamford. In concert Ms. Bocharova has performed varied works including the Mozart Requiem, Verdi Requiem, Beethoven Ninth Symphony and Handel’s Messiah in San Francisco’s Davies Hall. She has a recording; Maggie in The Gift of the Magi (world premiere).
