Biography
Michaela Selinger started her career in 2004 at the Theatre of Klagenfurt, Carinthia and the Theatre of Innsbruck, Tyrol.Was member of the Vienna State Opera from 2005 to 2010. Since then an international career has developed including opera and concert appearances, amongst others, at Opera Zurich, Glyndebourne Festival, Opéra du Rhin, Opéra du Lyon, New National Theatre Tokio, Vienna Musikverein, Vienna Konzerthaus and Salzburg Festival.
Her most important parts in opera include Octavian in Strauss’ Rosenkavalier, Komponist in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Idamante in Mozart’s Idomeneo.
In the season 13/14 she gave her US debut with Chicago Sinfony Orchestra and Maestro Muti and her debut at Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She sang Octavian in Strauss’ Rosenkavalier at the Grand Théatre de Luxembourg with Stefan Soltesz and Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther in a new production at the Aalto Theatre Essen. At the Vienna Konzerthaus she sang in Mozart’s Requiem together with Vienna Sinfonic Orchestra and Ivor Bolton.
In the season 14/15 she performed Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze do Figaro with Maestro Muti at the Opera di Roma. For the Opera Leipzig she sang Komponist in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos. At the Vienna Musikverein she performed in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Georges Prêtre. She sang Idamante in a new production at the Aalto Theatre Essen. She performed the mezzo-soprano part in Mozart’s Mass in c minor with the Camerata Salzburg conducted by Louis Langrée and in Mozart’s Requiem with the Staatskapelle Halle and Josep Caballé Domenech.
In 2015 she made her Bolshoi Theatre debut as Octavian (Rosenkavalier).
