Biography
Maria Nazarova born in Dnepropetrovsk. Started taking piano and voice lessons at the age of 4. After graduating from the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow in 2010 she enrolled in Salzburg’s Universität Mozarteum, studying with Prof. Elisabeth Wilke. In 2013, Ms. Nazarova successfully completed her Master of Music in Vocal Performance (specializing in Baroque music) with distinction. In addtion, she studied Lied und Oratorium with Prof. Breda Zakotnik.Ms. Nazarova is a winner of multiple international competitions. She obtained a scholarship from the Hübel-Foundation Salzburg in 2012. Her concert activity has taken her all around Europe; Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Spain, Lithuania, the UK and Russia. In 2013 she was a member of the Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project.
After her graduation with honors from the Mozarteum Salzburg she was accepted into the Vienna Conservatory Opera Studio, where she since then has performed Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims, Serpina in Pergolesi’s La Serva Padrona, Madame Herz in Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor and Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte.
In 2014 she celebrated her debut at the Vienna Volksoper as Taumännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel and was invited to perform the role of Gretel in Vilnius, Lithuania with the Lithuania State Symphony Orchestra. In 2015 Ms. Nazarova had her debut as Lisa in Bellini’s Sonnambula at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Germany. This season she was also granted one of the 2 Stipendiatenverträge at the world famous Wiener Staatsoper covering principal and performing smaller roles for the company.
Since 2015 Maria Nazarova has been an ensemble member of the Wiener Staatsoper. She sung Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Lisa (Sonnambula), Sophie (Werther), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte) and Adele (Die Fledermaus) here.
In 2016 she made her Bolshoi Theatre debut as Despina (Cosi fan tutte).
In 2018 debuted at the Salzburger Festspiele in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Papagena).
