Cédric Tirado

Biography

Cédric Tirado is costume designer for stage, screen, photography and live events. He studied Fine Arts and Architecture in Toulouse, performing Arts in Montpellier University, and hold degrees in menswear and womenswear tailoring.

He made his debut in 1997 with Marie Lou Mayeur, costume designer of the street theatre company “Royal de Luxe”.

He worked then as tailor and pattern maker for several french Opera houses and National Theater (Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Opéra de Marseille, Opéra National de Paris, Théâtre National de Toulouse, Opéra-Théâtre de Clermont-Ferrand).

Between 2006 and 2016, he joins Opéra National de Paris as costume assistant in which he works amongst others with directors like Bob Wilson (Madama Butterfly, Pelleas et Melisande), Peter Sellars (Tristan und Isolde), Michael Haneke (Don Giovanni), Anna Viebrock (Ariane et Barbe Bleue), Georges Lavaudant (La Cerisaie), Romeo Castellucci (Moses und Aron), Zabou Breitman (Entführung aus dem Serail), Krzysztof Warlikowski (Věc Makropulos, Król Roger).
In 2016 he assisted the English fashion designer Gareth Pugh for the costumes of Eliogabalo in Palais Garnier.

In 2010 he designs with Malgorzata Szczesniak the costumes of Un Tramway directed by Krzysztof Warlikowski in Théâtre de l’Odéon starring Isabelle Huppert and Andrzej Chyra.
He designed the costumes for the pyrotechnics show “Pierrot le feu” for Fête des Lumières in Lyon and works with the film director Tony T. Datis on the music video “Shipwreck” featuring Radiohead singer Thom Yorke.

He meet Jean-Romain Vesperini in 2012 and design the costumes of Faust at the Opera National de Paris.
This encounter gave birth to collaborations like Une laborieuse entreprise a theater play by Hanokh Levin at Comédie de Picardie, Paris Opera Competition, Les Mozart de l’Opéra at Théâtre des Champs Elysées.

Cédric Tirado recently designed the costumes of Logiqueimperturbabledufou of Zabou Breitman created for Festival d’Avignon and touring in Theatre Na Starstnom in Moscow and Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris.

He works closely with the photographer Vee Speers since her photograph series “Bulletproof” and designed the costumes of her last photographs series “Dystopia”.

Besides his designer activity he’s also a tutor in the Paris School of Fashion and design, Istituto Marangoni.
