2005 — a prizewinner of the Boris Gmyrya vocalist festival (Dnipropetrovsk 1 prize).
2008 — a prizewinner of the International Young Vocalists Competition «Orpheus» (Volgograd; 1st prize).
2009 — diploma recipient of the International competition for opera singers named after Solomiya Krushelnytska (Lviv).
Biography
Graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk State Music College (vocal department). In 2009, she completed her vocal studies at the Dnipropetrovsk Conservatory named after M. Glinka (Nonna Surzhina’s class).
In 2006-2011 she was a soloist with the Dnipropetrovsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, where debuted as Cerubino in Le nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart. In 2010 sang the part of Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini.
In 2008 Irina Petrova sang her first Carmen (Carmen by G. Bizet), and then performed this role in Kiev, Gauda, Deventer, Harleen, Venlo, IJmuiden, Zwolle, Leven, Hasselt, Zoetermeer, Delft, Eden, Rotterdam. She also appeared as Carmen at the Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre (2009), The Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus (Minsk), Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz/ Poland (2010), Lviv Theatre of Opera and Ballet (2015) and Kharkiv Opera Theatre (2016).
Since 2011 Irina Petrova has been a soloist with Kiev Shevchenko Theatre of Opera and Ballet (National Opera of the Ukraine). Her operatic appearances also include: Olga (Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin), Polina (Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades), Laura (Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta), Marina Mnishek (Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov) Lyubasha (Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar’s Bride), Flora Bervoix (Verdi’s La Traviata), Emilia (Verdi’s Otello), Maddalena (Verdi’s Rigoletto), Ciesca (Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi), The Mistress of the novices (Suor Angelica), Lola (Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana).
In 2017 she sang in La Traviata (Flora) in Holland and Belgium.
