Biography
Liina Keevallik has designed sets for drama and music performances in various Estonian theatres. She has been the designer for the following operas: Bizet’s Carmen (1998, Estonian National Opera and 2007, Idée Fixe & Dolce, Belgium), Gounod’s Faust (1998), Meyerbeer’s The Huguenots (1999, both at Bilbao Opera, Spain), Massenet’s Werther (2012, Theatre Vanemuine), Bizet’s Carmen (2011, Estonian National Opera) etc.; musicals: John & Rice’s Aida (2003, Tartu song festival grounds), Loewe’s My Fair Lady (2008, Estonian National Opera), Rips’ Wunderkind (2008, Estonian National Opera), Keevallik’s & Kuntu’s musical drama A Sentimental Education (2005, Von Krahl Theatre), etc.; multimedia performances: Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du Soldat (1996), Jalakas’ and Keevallik’s Estonian Games. Wedding (1999), M. Unt The Grail! (2001, all in Von Krahl Theatre), etc. She has created the costumes for Exitus (1998, Vanemuine), Bucketofsnow (1999, Estonian National Opera), etc.Movie designs: Rao Heidmets’ animation Pearlman (Nukufilm, 2006), Rainer Sarnet’s short movie The Miracle Unnoticed (2005), Rainer Sarnet’s movie Where Souls Go (Exitfilm, 2007) etc.
In 2009 she received the Natalie Mei Prize for her design for Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
