Evgeny Shevtsov

Biography

Graduated from the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts as choreographer and from the Institute de Formation Professionelle Rick Odums (Paris) as dancer. Trained as choreographer at the American Dance Festival (ADF) in 1998.

Took part in musical shows We will rock you and The Jays’ Wedding as dancer and coach, and in Shangri-La III and Luna Regalo projects (Japan) as choreographer. Works with pop and film stars as director/choreographer and dancer. Taught jazz dance at the Alla Dukhova studio Todes, Rhythms of the Planet ensemble, and the Moscow State University of Culture and Arts.

In 2002, he joined the Great Moscow State Circus, first as choreographer, then as principal choreographer. Since 2012, he has been the principal director of the company. He also collaborates with Giya Eradze’s Royal Circus and the Zapashny Brothers Circus. He has staged more than 15 circus productions.

Prize winner of international circus competitions in Italy, Monaco, Spain, Israel, China, Russia, and the Baltic states. Prize winner of international competitions of contemporary dance in Russia, the U.S., and France. Twice awarded the Best Circus Director prize by the Russian Circus Union (2011, 2013).
