Biography
Daniil Akhmedov graduated from the St Petersburg Institute of International Economic Relations, Economics and Law as linguist-translator (2003), then from the faculty of set design at GITIS (2012, class of Sergei Barkhin).As a theatre artist, he staged productions in various theatres in Russian and the Baltic countries: Jacques and his Master based on the play by M. Kundera (Orlov Theatre for Youth and Children “Free Space”), You are a Fool, Plush based on the play “On ne badine pas avec l’amour” by A. de Musset (Vyborg Drama and Puppet Theatre “Holy Fortress”), Twelfth Night by W. Shakespeare (Youth Theatre “Engagement”, Tyumen), Would based on the play “Attempts on her Life” by M. Crimp (“Drugoi teater”, Tallin), The Good Person of Szechwan by B. Brecht (Svetlana Kryuchkova Theatre-Studio, St Petersburg), Othello by W. Shakespeare (Kanski Drama Theatre), Mother Courage and Her Children by B. Brecht (Altai Drama Theatre named after V.M. Shukshin), The Taming of the Shrew by W. Shakespeare (Theatre of Nations), Faust by J. v. Goethe (Tver Youth Theatre), The Little Mermaid by H.C. Andersen (Ekaterinburg Youth Theatre), The May Night based on the works by N. Gogol (Saratov Youth Theatre), the musical Dwarf Nose based on a fairy tale by W. Hauff and Antigone by O. Shaydullina (Perm Academic “Theatre-Theatre”).
As a costume designer, he created the productions of Don Juan by J.-B. Molière (Novokuznetsk Drama Theatre) and A Streetcar Named Desire by T. Williams (Moscow Art Theatre).
Since 2015 he has been assistant to Chief Director of the Krasnoyarsk Youth Theatre where he has designed such productions as Cinderella by E. Schwartz, the documentary performance of A Teenager from the Right Bank, A Tale after a Tale, Sleep. Summer. Night based on a play by W. Shakespeare, The Snow Queen by H.Ch. Andersen, Windows on the World by A. Vyslov based on the novel by F. Beigbeder, the chorographical performance by N. Shurganova Estrogen, the musical Binduzhnik and the King by A. Zhurbin and A. Eppel based on the works by I. Babel, “Peer Gynt” by H. Ibsen, “The Flies” by J.-P. Sartre, Hedgehog in the Fog based on the tales by S. Kozlov, Zvezdets by V. Shergin and The Chronicles of Narnia. The Magician's Nephew by C. Lewis. As a designer and director of visual theatre he staged the productions of Alice based on the tales by L. Carroll and Gogol. Exhibits on N. Gogol.
