Илья Старилов

Biography

In 1999 graduated from the Design Department of the Voronezh Art College. In 2011 graduated from the Institute of Television, Business and Design, St. Petersburg, majoring in multimedia directing.

In 2003–13 worked on TV in broadcast design: TNT, A-One, Peretz channels.

Started his career as a video artist in theatrical field in 2012.

Worked on the Depot of Genius Delusions project of the Russian Engineering Theatre AXE, such productions of The Stanislavsky Electrotheatre as The Blue Bird, The Sverlians and The Constant Principle (directed by Boris Yukhananov), Dmitri Kurlyandsky’s opera Octavia. Trepanation (directed by Boris Yukhananov, at the Holland Festival in Amsterdam), Catabasis. Demons (the Cottbus State Theatre in Germany).

Participated in director Maxim Didenko`s projects: The Idiot, The Circus and Lefty at the Theatre of Nations; Run, Alice, Run at the Taganka Theatre; The Text, based on the novel by Dmitry Glukhovsky at the Ermolova Theatre; Norma, based on the work of Vladimir Sorokin at the Bronnaya Theatre; and in Russia's first immersive performance The Black Russian.

He worked on the ballets Yaroslavna. Eclipse by Boris Tishchenko (choreographed by Vladimir Varnava, Mariinsky Theatre), Isadora to music by Sergei Prokofiev (choreographed by Vladimir Varnava, Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Los Angeles, USA), Gabrielle Chanel by Ilya Demutsky (choreographed by Yuri Posokhov, Svetlana Zakharova's MODANSE program); On Nature by Alexey Nadzharov (choreographed by Vladimir Varnava) and Death, the Fairest to music by Alberto Ginastera (choreographed by Maxim Sevagin) at the Musical Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Theatre.
