Biography
Graham Vick is Artistic Director of Birmingham Opera Company and works in the world's leading opera houses with such conductors as Riccardo Muti, James Levine, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta and
Seiji Ozawa.
He was Director of Productions at Scottish Opera from 1984 to 1987 and at Glyndebourne Festival from 1994 to 2000. Recent productions include Otello and Macbeth at La Scala, Milan;
Moses und Aron and Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for the Metropolitan Opera, New York; The Queen of Spades for Chicago Lyric Opera; Cosi fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Don
Giovanni and Pellйas et Mйlisande at Glyndebourne; Peter Grimes for the Paris Opйra; Les Troyens in Munich and Florence; Rigoletto in Madrid; Tamerlano, Die
Meistersinger and Idomeneo in Florence, La Traviata at the Arena di Verona and Die Zauberflote at the Salzburg Festival.
In 2002 he was Hambro Visiting Professor of Opera Studies at Oxford University.
Awards
His many awards include Italy's Premi Abbiati (three times) and South Bank Show Awards for Opera in both 1999 and 2002.
He is a Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Honorary Professor of Music at the University of Birmingham.
