Biography
Born in Moscow. Studied at the faculty of philology of the Moscow State University, participated in productions of the Our House student studio. Then he switched to the acting department of GITIS, where he studied under the leadership of Grigory Konsky.In 1973-2023 was in the troupe of the Mayakosvky Theatre. Performed in plays directed by Andrei Goncharov: Conversations with Socrates by E. Radzinsky, Venceremos! by G. Borovik, Efficiency of Obsession by J. Volchek, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and A Streetcar Named Desire by T. Williams, Rumour by A. Salynsky and Sunset by I. Babel.
Amongst his signature roles at the Mayakovsky Theatre are Napoleon (Napoleon the First by F. Bruckner, director Tatyana Kazakova), Dmitry Karamazov (Karamazovs based on Dostoyevsky’s novel, director Sergei Artsibashev).
Participated in productions at other theatres. At the Stanislavsky Theatre, he played Ivanov in the play of the same name by A. Chekov, at Pokrovka Theatre – Kochkarev (Wedding by N. Gogol), at the Hermitage Theatre – Nikolai Stepanovich (Secret notes of the Privy Councilor based on the works by A. Chekov). He was involved in the projects of the International Confederation of Theatre Unions, where he performed the part of Ivan (ART by Yasmina Reza, director Patrice Kerbrat) and Polonius (Hamlet by W. Shakespeare, director Peter Stein).
In 1976 it was his debut in film – he starred in Le Rouge et le Noir (director Sergei Gerasimov). Amongst the film with Mikhail Filippov are Artist from Gribov (director Leonid Kvinikhidze), Women who are lucky (directors Vladimir Khramov and Mark Orlov), The Trial (director Alexey Simonov), The Sukhovo-Kobylin Case (director Leonid Pchelkin), Promised Heaven (director Eldar Ryazanov), Crazies / Choknutye (director Alla Surikova), Sin (director Radomir Wasilewski), Breakfast with a view of Elbrus (director Nikolai Maletsky), Moscow Holidays (director Alla Surikova), Snake Spring (director Nikolai Lebedev), Russian Revolt (director Alexander Proshkin), Cricket at the Hearth (director Leonid Nechaev), Gagarin. First in space (directed by Pavel Parkhomenko). He took part in the series Little Things in Life, St Petersburg Mysteries, Impostors, D.D.D. Detective Dubrovsky’s file, Evlampia Romanova. The investigation is being conducted by Amateur-1, Children of the Arbat, Ivan the Terrible, Tell the Truth and others.
Since 2023 has been an actor at the Maly Theatre. Plays the part of Sobakevich in Dead Souls based on N. Gogol’s play (director Alexei Dubrovsky).
