Mikhail Kazakov

Biography

Born in Dmitrovgrad, Ulyanovsk region. In 200l, he completed his studies at the Kazan Conservatory (Galina Lastovka’s class). While still a second-year student, he took part in a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem at the Tartar Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
In 2001, he joined the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company as soloist.

Mikhail Kazakov has an active concert life; he has appeared at the following, among other, prestigious venues in Russia and Europe: the Saint-Petersburg Philharmonia, the Maryinsky Theatre, the Big Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Koncertgebau and Karee Hall (Amsterdam), the Megaron Concert Hall (Athens), the UNESCO Concert Hall (Paris), the Concert Hall of the European Parliament (Strasbourg).
In 2003, he sang the part of Zaccaria (Nabucco) at New Israel Opera, Tel-Aviv. In the same year, he took part in a concert performance of Eugene Onegin at Place des Arts in Montreal, Canada.
In 2004, he made his Vienna Staatsoper debut as the Comendatore in Don Giovanni (conductor Seiji Ozawa).
In September 2004, he sang the Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlos) at Dresden Staatsoper.
In November 2004, at the invitation of Placido Domingo, he sang Ferrando in Il Trovatore at Washington National Opera.
In December 2004, he sang Gremin (Eugene Onegin) and in May-June 2005 — Ramfis (Aida) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (Dusseldorf).
In 2005, he took part in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem in Montpellier.
In 2006, he sang Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Montpellier (conductor Enrique Mazzola) and took part in a performance of Verdi’s Requiem in Goteborg.
In 2006-07, he sang Ramfis at the Opera Royal de Wallonie (Liege) and at the Dresden Staatsoper, Zaccaria at the Dresden Staatsoper and at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
In 2007, he took part in a concert performance of Rakhmaninov’s Aleko and Francesca da Rimini (Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Moscow, conductor Mikhail Pletnev). In the same year, he appeared in Salle Gaveau (Paris) at the Crescendo Music festival.
In 2008, he took part in the Chaliapin Opera Festival (Kazan, Russia) and in the Lucerne Festival (conductor Yuri Temirkanov).
In 2011, he sang the title role in Boris Godunov at the Dallas Opera (Andrei Tarkovsky production, director Stephen Lawless).
In 2014, Mikhail Kazakov performed the title role in Boris Godunov at the Theater Erfurt, and Dosifey in Khovanshchina at the Opera Stuttgart.
In 2015, he appeared at the National Theatre Prague and Mariinsky Theatre in Boris Godunov (title role), at the Tatar State Opera in Aida (Ramfis).
Engagements 2016-2017 includes Gremin (Eugene Onegin) at the Dallas Opera, Dosifey (Khovanshchina) at the Opera Stuttgart, Boris Godunov at the Korea National Opera, Seul, and The Grand Inquisitor (Don Carlo) at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin.
In July 2017, he took part in the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company tour to Savonlinna, performed the role of King Rene in Iolanta.
In 2018, the title role in Boris Godunov at the Wroclaw Opera, Prince Gremin (Eugene Onegin) at the Opéra National du Rhin, Strasburg.
In 2019, Zaccaria (Nabucco) at the Tatar State Opera and Ballet Theatre (Kazan), the title role in Boris Godunov at the Wroclaw Opera.
