Biography
Alberto Gazale was born in Italy. He graduated with honors from the Conservatoire of Verona, together with University where he studied modern literature. After graduation he attended the Accademia Verdiana of Parma and Busseto (Carlo Bergonzi`s class).In 1988, he debuted in Parma as Renato in Verdi`s Un ballo in mascera, and then performed this role at the Arena di Verona with great acclaim of critics.
His repertoire includes over seventy parties, among them the title roles in Rigoletto, Macbeth, Simon Boccanegra, Don Carlo, Nabucco, Di Luna in Il trovatore, Germont in La traviata, Iago in Otello, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Amonasro in Aida, Seid in Il corsaro (Verdi), Alfio in Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni), Gerard in Andrea Chénier (Giordano), Barnaba in La Gioconda (Ponchielli), Tonio in Pagliacci (Leoncavallo), Scarpia in Tosca, Jack Rance in La fanciulla del West (Puccini) and many others.
Alberto Gazale performs in La Scala in Milan, the Vienna Staatsoper, the Arena di Verona and the opera houses of Berlin, Barcelona, Firenze, Venice, Zurich, Madrid, Paris, Rome, Bologna, Trieste, Monte Carlo, Genova and others.
He has worked regulary with great conductors including Gary Bertini, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Riccardo Chailly, James Conlon, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Carlo Rizzi.
Among his recent engagements: the title role in Verdi`s Nabucco (Israeli Opera, Tel Aviv, Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari), Sharpless in Puccini`s Madama Butterfly (Opera de Las Palmas), the title role in Verdi`s Rigoletto (Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania, National Theatre Belgrade), Amonasro in Verdi`s Aida (Astana Opera), the title role in Verdi`s Simon Boccanegra (Hong Kong Arts Festival), Gerard in Giordano`s Andrea Chénier (Opera di Genova), Scarpia in Puccini`s Tosca (Teatro delle Muse, Ancona).
In 2017 Alberto Gazale made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre as Lescaut in production of Manon Lescaut by Puccini.
