Leading soloist Alyona Kovaleva and Principal Dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre, Artemy Belyakov, have been awarded with Léonide Massine Prize. Ceremony is held annually in Positano (Italy) and named after the famous Russian choreographer, so well-known in the West. His bright career started at the Bolshoi at the dawn of the XX Century.

Lilian Hochhauser becomes a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Over sixty years, in partnership with her husband Victor Hochhauser, she has been a partner of the Bolshoi, organizing guest tours of the theatre’s ballet company. The first guest tour in Britain – indeed the very first large-scale foreign guest tour of the Bolshoi Ballet took place in London in 1956. It was a triumph for all. The company acquired world famous and established itself as the Bolshoi Ballet, the tour became legendary and marked the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the theatre and the Hokhausers.

Denis Rodkin Enchants Italy!
Italy's leading dance magazine DANZA & DANZA has voted the Bolshoi Ballet principal Denis Rodkin the best dancer of the year (2016). In 2016 besides his triumphs at the Bolshoi and during the Bolshoi Ballet summer season at Covent Garden he successfully performed in Italy, in particular, as Jose in Carmen Suite (Politeama, Naples, Svetlana Zakharova as Carmen) and Paolo in Y. Posokhov’s ballet Francesca da Rimini in the framework of Svetlana Zakharova’s project Amore (the cities such as, among others, Modena, Parma, Ravenna and Genova).

The Dance Section of the Critics’ Circle has announced the nominations for the 17th National Dance Awards. The Bolshoi Ballet has been nominated five times!

Dance Open Grand Prix goes to Olga Smirnova and Semyon Chudin
The Dance Open International Ballet Festival, which this year celebrates its 15th jubilee, has just ended in St. Petersburg. The 2016 Dance Open Grand Prix was awarded to the Bolshoi principals Olga Smirnova and Semyon Chudin. Both dancers have already been honoured at this Festival: in 2013, Smirnova carried off the Miss Expressivity award and in 2014 Chudin - the Mister Virtuoso award. The authoritative international jury was headed this year by choreographer Hans van Manen.

For two years in succession a Bolshoi Ballet ballerina has carried off the Positano Léonide Massine Prize for the Art of Dance (in the Dancer of the Year on the International Stage nomination). This time round the prize was won by Bolshoi Theatre ballerina Ekaterina Krysanova!

Our Tanz (Dance) magazine laureate!
Summing up the results of the outgoing theatre season, the authoritative German Tanz (Dance) magazine has voted Bolshoi Ballet premier Vladislav Lantratov 2015 Dancer of the Year. Lantratov is in good company: ballerina of the year is Alina Cojocaru, and choreographer — Marco Goecke, (while Company of the Year is Deutsche ballet am Rhein).
